=========================================================================== Boeing 707-138 Reg. VH-EBD "City of Brisbane" of QANTAS by Les Penridge (for FS51 and FS98) =========================================================================== Trans-Pacific Australia to USA: Post-Propliners from 1959. This model depicts VH-EBD "City of Brisbane", one of the new generation of jet liners acquired by Qantas in 1959 to replace their very successful L1049 Constellations used to service the Southern Cross route. Many of the available airstrips on the Trans-Pacific route (including Sydney airport) did not have runways of suitable capacity for the new jet aircraft. Boeing offered the 707-120 in a standard length fuselage (144'6") and a shortened version (134'6"). By combining the short body with the improved Pratt & Whitney JT3C-6 engines, Qantas was able to achieve the required performance. This became the Qantas 707-138. Qantas used the 138s in this configuration through into 1961, when all were upgraded by Boeing to 138B level, and the distinctive red Qantas tail was then added to the livery. Southern Cross Route: Sydney-Nadi-CantonIs-Honolulu-SanFrancisco-Vancouver. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- The detailed tuning for this 707-138 flight model was carried out by Brian Horsey. The base flight model was initiated from bits of the long line of Boeing heavy jet models due to Craig Mosher 747-400, Robert Randazzo 747-100, 707-100, and others. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- The zip file contains the FS98 files for the usual layout. ... \Aircraft\B707138Q\Model \Panel \Sound \Texture For those who need it, the AIR file for FS51 is stored in the embedded file: FS51.zip.
