Compass Boeing 727-200 and Boeing 737-300 by Dean Mountford. Original Brian Quayle, Jan Moons. Activate Word Wrap. After seeing many fs mockups of real aircraft and numerous repaints for virtual airlines, I decided to come up with a fictional fleet for the airline that once was (Down Under) "Compass". As far as I know they only ever operated A300's and possibly MD-80's. The airline satrted twice and went bankrupt twice. This design is dedicated to the men and women who dared to take on the bigshots (Ansett and Qantas), but unfortunately lost. Here's a sample of what might have been if they had succeeded... Many thank's go to Brian Quayle for the original design. INSTALLATION ------------ Just unzip the ZIP file into your FS98 Aircraft directory. The ZIP file will then place the appropriate files in the appropriate sub-directories. Then fire up FS98 and you're away. Flight Shop Coverter 98 IS REQUIRED to use these aircraft. 727 FLYING ========== The B727 when loaded to MTOW will need about 8500 ft of runway and rotate at about 145kts(lower at lighter weights). Use 15 flap for T/O. After T/O accelerate to about 170kts BEFORE you retract flaps to 8 and about 210kts clean. We use a climb schedule of 310kts/M.78 climb(250kts blw 10 thousand). Initial cruise alt after a Max Wt T/O is in the low 30's range. Constant Mach cruise ranges from M.78 to M.84 if your in a hurry with M.82 a good "middle of the road" figure, you'll need about 92%->96% N1(the real one is in EPR). Plan on a fuel burn of about 10,000 lbs in the first hour and 9,000 lbs for every other hour of flight, add a reserve of 6500 lbs and you "should'nt";-) run out of "motion lotion". Descent's are at M.80/320/250kts. Allow a distance that is 3 times your alt agl+10 (ie:35000 ft =35x3+10=115 nm from T/D). On approach flaps 8 at 235 kts and 15 at 190kts then maintain 170kts till intecepting GS. Just before GS intercept gear down and flaps 20, speed about 150kts. Over the FAF full flaps and Vref of 135kts at MLW (slower when lighter) then just close the thrust levers at 35ft (over the RWY preferably). Hit the spoilers and rev thrust and you should be stopped in about 5500 ft of pavement. Ansett 737-300 Flying --------------------------------------------------- Flight model is set at 56,000kgs (maximum takeoff weight with maximum fuel) for standard weight 737-300. Some settings at max takeoff weight. Rotate at - 145kts Climb @ 300knots above 10,000 feet - n1 (fan) 90% to 98% Cruise 31,000ft - n1 (fan) 84% BTW: Check out my other A/C on the FTP.IUP server. So keep an eye out for: Compass (MD-80) Compass (B-767) I hope you all enjoy flying these aircraft. If you like it and think others would like it as well, please by all means upload it to any BBS/Homepage as long it remains FREEWARE!!! Best Regards, Dean Mountford. joshmo at quicknet dot com dot au
