Replacing files to change database name for Medline. In order to change the database name, as it appears in the database selection screen, the .dff and .vff files for each database segment must be replaced. To workaround this problem and successfully install this database, you must FTP the new files and perform a magnetic link installation. The instructions below assume that ERL is running on UNIX. If you are running ERL on Windows NT, the files also need to be replaced. The steps that refer to changing file ownership and permissions will not apply. Transfer the files: For each database segment that you have installed, change to the medline/meds00b? directory where the ? is the last letter in the database name. FTP the two files in the directory to your Dbserver. Magnetic Link Installation is required! 1. Remove the currently installed Medline database using the 2. Remove option from the dbinstall menu. 2. Change to the directory where the Medline data resides. 3. Replace the .vff and .dff files with the newly ftp'd files. **UNIX users should ensure that the file names are in all uppercase and the owner and group are erl. 4. Install the database using the 1. Install option from the dbinstall menu. If you need detailed information regarding magnetic link installation or have any questions please contact support@silverplatter.com
